It is important to regularly cut your cat's claws if your cat doesn't have the opportunity to use them naturally. This is often the case for cats living in an apartment or house.
So as to not risk injuring your cat, it is important to use veterinary grade claw clippers, which give a clean cut and don't cause the nail to splinter. Mikki claw clipper blades are heat-treated, ensuring maximum durability. The handles are coated in ergonomic plastic, ensuring a tighter grip.
It is important to not cut the vein, or "quick" in your dog's or cat's claw. If your pet's claws are clear, you will see a slight pink colour, which indicates the quick. It might be more difficult to know where the vein is in pets with dark nails. If you are not sure, consult with your veterinarian or pet groomer.
Gently but firmly hold onto your cat's paw. Cut gently. If you are not sure, only clip a small amount at a time. Only do the front paws. Do not cut too short.
