    Indications - Advantix Dog

    • Advantix is used to prevent and treat flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis, Ctenocephalides canis) on dogs. The fleas on the dog will be killed within 24 hours after application. One application of Advantix Dog is effective against a flea infestation for 4 weeks. Advantix Dog can be integrated in a therapeutic programme to control Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD).

    • Advantix Dog is also effective agains ticks, for a period of 4 weeks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ixodes ricinus) and 3 weeks (Dermacentor reticulatus). The ticks already on the dog at the momet of application might not be killed in the 2 days following the treatment. They may remain on the dog and be visible. We therefore recommend removing the ticks that you find on your dog prior to applying Advantix, to prevent them from taking more blood.

    • One application of Advantix dog also repels sandflies over a period of 2 weeks (Phlebotomus papatasi) and 3 weeks (Phlebotomus perniciosus), respectivel; repels mosquitos over a period of 2 to 4 weeks (Culex pipiens) and repels flies (Stomoxys calcitrans) over a period of 4 weeks.

    Available sizes - Advantix Dog

    • Dogs between 1.5 and 4 kg: one Advantix Dog 40/200 pipette - Very small dog (0.4 ml).
    • Dogs between 4 and 10 kg: one Advantix Dog 500 pipette - Small dog (1.0 ml).
    • Dogs between 10 and 25 kg: one Advantix Dog 250/1250 pipette - Medium-sized dog (2.5 ml).
    • Dogs between 25 and 40 kg: one Advantix Dog 2000 pipette - Large dog (4.0 ml).
    • Dogs over 40 kg: use the right combination of pipettes.

In order to reduce risks of further infestation, we recommend treating all your dogs with Advantix Dog.

Advantix Dog is effective even when your dog is wet. However, try to avoid intense or prolonged exposure to water, as this could reduce the product's period of effectiveness. If this is the case, wait at least one week prior to reapplying Advantix Dog.  If you must bathe your dog with shampoo, do so before applying Advantix, or wait at least two weeks following treatment, to ensure the product is effective.

    Administration - Advantix Dog

The contents of the pipette must be applied directly onto the skin between your dog's shoulder blades.

Remove a pipette of Advantix Dog from the package. Hold the pipette in an upright position, twist and pull the cap. Use the cap upside down to perforate the seal.

    - For dogs weighing less than 10 kg:

Maintain your dog in a standing position, part the coat between the shoulder blades until you can see some skin. Put the tip of the pipette on the skin and squeeze firmly a few times until all the product is out. Apply Advantix Dog only on healthy skin.

    - For dogs weighing more than 10 kg:

Maintain your dog in a standing position to facilitate the application of Advantix Dog.

The entire contents of the pipette must be evenly applied in 3 or 4 spots, along the dog's spine, from between the shoulder blades to the base of the tail.

Part the coat at each spot until you can see some skin.

Place the opening of the Advantix Dog pipette on the skin and squeeze gently until you empty a portion of the contents directly on the skin.

Do not apply an excessive quantity of Advantix Dog on one spot only: the liquid could flow down the sides of the dog rather than penetrating the skin.

Apply only on healthy skin. Make sure that animals recently treated do not groom each other.

    Composition - Advantix Dog

    Spot-on solution:

    • Imidacloprid: 100 mg
    • Permethrine: 500 mg
    • Butylated hydroxytoluene: 10 mg
    • Excipient Q.S.: 1 ml

    Contraindications - Advantix Dog

Do not use on puppies aged less than 7 weeks and weighing less than 1.5 kg. Do not use on cats. Advantix Dog is extremely dangerous for cats and can be lethal (cats have a different physiology and are unable to metabolize some of Advantix Dog' contents, such as permethrin). To avoid accidentally exposing your cat to Advantix Dog, keep dogs away from cats until the application site is totally dry. Cats should not lick the application site of a recently treated dog. If this happens, please contact your veterinarian immediately.

    Direct-Vet recommends:

Apart from the fleas on your dog, the fleas' eggs, their larvae and their nymphs can also be found in your dog's environment. These can therefore infect your pet again shortly after treatment. This is why we recommend treating the surroundings with an appropriate spray, such as Indoor-X from Virbac Laboratory.
