    More info

Advantage Dog is used to prevent and treat fleas and biting lice on dogs. With Advantage Dog, fleas on the dog are killed within 24 hours. Moreover, fleas do not need to bite the dog to be killed; they die simply by coming into contact with Advantage Dog. This protection lasts up to 4 weeks.

Advantage Dog can be integrated in a therapeutic programme to control Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD).

    Available sizes - Advantage Dog

    • Advantage 40 = Very small dogs, between 1.5 and 4 kg
    • Advantage 100 = Small dogs, between 4 and 10 kg
    • Advantage 250 = Middle-sized dogs, between 10 and 25 kg
    • Advantage 400 = Large dogs, between 25 and 40 kg

    Composition - Advantage Dog

    • Active ingredient: 10% (100 mg/ml) imidacloprid.
    • Excipients: 0.1% (1 mg/ml) butylhydroxytoluene (E321) benzyl alcohol.

    Instructions - Advantage Dog

Remove a pipette of Advantage Dog from its package. Hold the pipette in an upright position, twist and pull the cap. Use the cap upside down to screw and perforate the seal.

For dogs less than 25 kg:

Maintain your dog in a standing position, part the coat between the shoulder blades until you can see some skin. Put the tip of the pipette on the skin and squeeze firmly a few times until all the product is out.

For dogs weighing 25 kg or more

Maintain your dog in a standing position to facilitate the application of Advantage Dog. The entire contents of the pipette must be evenly applied in 3 or 4 spots, all situated along the dog's spine, between the shoulder blades to the base of the tail. Part the coat at each spot until you can see some skin. Place the opening of the Advantage Dog pipette on the skin and squeeze gently until you empty a portion of the contents directly on the skin. For dogs weighing 40 kg or more, we recommend using 2 pipettes (Advantage 400 for large dogs).

Do not apply an excessive quantity of Advantage Dog on one spot only: the liquid could flow down the dog's flanks. Apply only on healthy skin. Make sure that animals recently treated do not groom each other.

    Side effects - Advantage Dog

Advantage Dog has a bitter taste and can occasionaly result in excessive salivation if the dog licks the spot where the product was applied immediately after treatment. This is not a sign of poisoning. This side effect will disappear within a few minutes, without treatment. In some vary rare cases, there can be a small skin reaction such as redness or localised hair loss.

    Contraindications - Advantage Dog

Do not treat unweaned puppies younger than 8 weeks in age with Advantage Dog. Do not use on animals that have already presented hypersensitivity to imidacloprid or any of the other excipients contained in Advantage Dog.

    Other recommendations - Advantage Dog

Advantage Dog is still effective even if the animal is wet (for example after a swim or after being in the rain). However, in the case of repeated baths or swimming, you may need to reapply the treatment, espcially if there are parasites in your dog's environment. In that case, it is important to wait at least 1 week prior to reapplying Advantage Dog.

    Direct-Vet recommends:

Apart from the fleas on your dog, the fleas' eggs, their larvae and their nymphs can also be found in your dog's environment. These can therefore reinfect your pet shortly after treatment. This is why we recommended treating your dog's environment with an appropriate spray, such as Virbac Laboratory's Indoor-X.
